A word of support from a former ASAA Track & Field Provincial Champion
I was introduced to track and field in grade ten where I was asked to try pole vault, I remember being terrified to give it a try but soon found a strong passion for the event. Through the competitions put on by Dino Athletics and the ASAA I was able to develop my abilities as a pole vaulter and saw much success in my high school track and field career. I then continued on with track and field into university where I became a member of the Dinos varsity track and field team which I have competed for, for 4 years and have had some of the most memorable experiences of my life. Along with fun team bonding experiences I was able to win back to back Canada West championships and another silver medal in pole vault, a Canadian Interuniversity Sport bronze medal and was a silver medalist at both the Western Canada Summer Games (2011) as well as the Canada Summer Games this past summer in Sherbrooke, Quebec. Being involved in track and field has been the most rewarding experience of my life and I encourage young athletes to find their passion in the sport and enjoy every minute of it! Welcome to Calgary and best of luck to all those competing!
